The SDSU Herbarium received a grant from the California Institute of Biodiversity last year to purchase two herbarium cabinets. These are being used to house nearly 2,000 specimens from Richard Swinney toward his Flora of the San Gabriel Mountains project. Swinney’s specimens were “rescued” from storage. Most of these are now mounted, barcoded, databased, and photographed. They are permanently housed at the SDSU Herbarium. The data and images associated with these specimens are available to the public online at the Consortium of California Herbaria 2 (CCH2.org).
