Ten community members who made significant contributions in the 2024 City Nature Challenge visited the SDSU Biodiversity Museum Saturday 29 June 2024. Drs. Kevin Burns, Marshal Hedin, Michael Simpson, and collections manager Ryan Appler gave tours of the bird, terrestrial arthropod, plant, and herpetology collections at SDSU. The event was a great success! We were pleased to give a summary of the importance of biological collections to this stellar group of naturalist “superstars,” many of whom used the application iNaturalist to make their observations. Members of the group asked stimulating questions about how we make collections and how we disseminate the information to other researchers and to the public. And a special thanks again to Lisa Marun for helping to organize everything!
