Research by former SDSU Ph.D. student, Dr. Andy Gottscho, was recently featured in the Anza-Borrego Foundation’s Desert Research Magazine! Dr. Gottscho studied the evolutionary history and phytogeography of fringe-toed lizards (genus Uma) in the Colorado Desert for a decade and ultimately described a new species, Uma thurmanae, in honor of the famous actress Uma Thurman from the Kill Bill series. You can check out the entire magazine and read more about Dr. Gottscho’s research findings here: https://theabf.org/our-work/key-initiatives/desert-researcher-magazine/.
